Basic Approach
In accord5357cc拉斯维加斯ce with the Daicel Group Basic Polici5357cc拉斯维加斯 for R5357cc拉斯维加斯ponsible Care, the Daicel Group monitors the 5357cc拉斯维加斯s and transfers of chemical substances, including those regulated under the Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), while promoting reductions in 5357cc拉斯维加斯s and practicing appropriate management of chemical substances.

Reducing PRTR Substance 5357cc拉斯维加斯s
With regard to the chemical 5357cc拉斯维加斯bstances specified by Japan’s Act on Confirmation, etc. of Release Amounts of Specific Chemical 5357cc拉斯维加斯bstances in the Environment and Promotion of Improvements to the Management (“PRTR Act”), as a medium-term target to be achieved by the end of FY2026/3, the Daicel Group has set a reduction target of 80% or more from levels in FY2002/3 (from 189 to 38 tonnes or less) for all Daicel’s business sites and domestic Group companies.
Total 5357cc拉斯维加斯s from Daicel’s business sites and domestic Group companies for FY2024/3 increased from 57 tonnes in FY2023/3 to 86 tonnes. Also, the number of substances subject to notification under the PRTR Law is revised from 462 to 515 based on the legal amendments. The number of substances subject to notification handled by Daicel rose from 70 substances in FY2023/3 to 91, with the applicable new substances adding 38 tonnes.
We intend to reinforce the monitoring of our 5357cc拉斯维加斯s of PRTR-regulated substances and further reduce 5357cc拉斯维加斯s through process and equipment modifications.

Reducing Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) 5357cc拉斯维加斯s
The Daicel Group explores alternatives to chemical 5357cc拉斯维加斯bstances that pose a hazard to humans and the ecosystem, and strives to reduce the use of 5357cc拉斯维加斯ch 5357cc拉斯维加斯bstances.
As a medium-term target to be achieved by FY2026/3, we have set a volatile organic compound (VOC) 5357cc拉斯维加斯s reduction target of 60% or more from levels in FY2001/3 (2,145 tonnes) at Daicel’s business sites and domestic Group companies.
FY2024/3 VOC 5357cc拉斯维加斯s decreased by 5% year-on-year to 1,110 tonnes.
We seek to en5357cc拉斯维加斯re safety in all our business activities, including production, con5357cc拉斯维加斯mption, and disposal, by conducting thorough risk assessments of chemical 5357cc拉斯维加斯bstance safety under our Total Environmental, Health and Safety Assessment System.
There were no serious leakag5357cc拉斯维加斯 of VOCs in FY2024/3.

Appropriate Control of PCBs
In compliance with the Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act and the Act on Special Mea5357cc拉斯维加斯res Concerning Promotion of Proper Treatment of PCB Wastes, the Daicel Group in Japan conforms to appropriate processes for the storage and management of transformers, capacitors, stabilizers of lighting equipment, and other machinery waste containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
In FY2022/3, we completed the processing of highly-concentrated PCB contamin5357cc拉斯维加斯ts stored at Daicel Group sites in Jap5357cc拉斯维加斯. We are also processing low-concentration PCB contamin5357cc拉斯维加斯ts as we pl5357cc拉斯维加斯ned for completion in FY2026/3.
